Press play first, then press Rescan in the panel. Detection watches what the page requests, so a video that has not started loading has not produced anything to detect yet.

If the page was already open when you installed the extension, reload it once — the detector needs to be present before the page starts fetching.

Some players load media inside a cross-origin frame that Chrome does not let extensions read. Opening the video on its own page usually resolves it.

That stream is encrypted with DRM — Widevine, PlayReady, FairPlay or SAMPLE-AES. Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, Spotify and most paid course platforms use it.

Simply Video Downloader Pro detects DRM and refuses on purpose. Removing it would be circumvention of a technological protection measure, which is unlawful in most countries and prohibited by Chrome Web Store policy. No browser extension can legitimately do it. If the service offers its own offline mode — most streaming and course apps do — that is the sanctioned way to watch without a connection.

Correct, and deliberate. YouTube is excluded because downloading from it is against the YouTube Terms of Service, and extensions that do it are removed from the Chrome Web Store. YouTube Premium includes offline downloads if that is what you need.

A live HLS playlist has no defined end, so the extension switches from Download to Record. Start recording, let it run, then press Stop; the captured segments are assembled locally and saved as one file. DRM-protected live streams are still refused.

Some adaptive streams keep video and audio in separate tracks. Simply Video Downloader Pro joins them back into one file automatically.

If a particular stream still comes out silent, the audio track was in a form the joiner could not safely handle, and the extension chose to give you the video rather than fail the download outright. Try a different rendition from the quality menu — a muxed one often exists — and please report the site so it can be fixed.

Press Retry. Most failures are a CDN briefly rejecting a segment or a signed address expiring mid-download; a retry re-reads the manifest and usually succeeds.

If it fails repeatedly, reload the page so a fresh manifest is issued, then try again.

Into a Simply Downloads folder inside your normal Chrome downloads location. Each finished item has a Show in folder link in the panel.

Yes. Turn on the in-page button in Settings → Detection and a Download control appears over the video itself. Clicking it starts the save immediately.

An optional feature that helps us find sites where detection is broken. It is off unless you turn it on, downloading never requires it, and you can switch it off at any time in Settings → Privacy, which also deletes the identifier from your machine. The privacy policy describes exactly what it sends.

Downloading media you own, media released for download, or media you have permission to save is fine. Downloading copyrighted material you do not have rights to is not, whatever tool you use. Simply Video Downloader Pro refuses DRM-protected content and excludes YouTube, but everything else is on you — please follow each site's terms of service.
